I have a customer that would like some colorful trees planted along a roadway. I was trying to come up with something different than crepe myrtle or bradford pear. My wife suggested camiellias. I looked at some and like the way they look. My question is about the hardiness of these near a road and getting wind damaged. they will be approx 15-20 feet from road. Also what kind of growth rate can be expected with these. I am going to my nursery tomorrow so if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know

I would say braford pears, dogwoods, flowering cherry, crabapple, plums, magnolia, maybe firebushes color in spring and fall only its a shrub.
