using the hoe is an option but I will need a 24" bucket right now it has a 16". the trencher would would be cleaner less disturbance.

What is the tooth setup on the trencher? Shark tooth, cups, bullet bits? Maybe a different setup would clean better.

right now it has just cup cutters on every second station I believe 5" cut all new cutters. I have more cutters but need to get spacers to install them as the guy I bought it from had it pretty bare on the chain.

Sharp shooter and clean out. Get used to it.
And run the chain rpm as high as it will go.
