Dry Gas is usually made up of one of two alcohols. Either isopropyl alcohol or methanol. They have the same effect on gasoline and water as ethanol does. The water binds to the alcohol and separates from the gas. When you add alcohol to water it lowers water's freezing point.

I would rather use Star Tron than go out of my way to buy more expensive fuel. I just put in 1/4 oz to 5 gallons of fuel or just add every time I put fuel in the tanks. Keeps the fuel good all winter. Just my experience. No expert chemist here

I'm not one either. I just Google up what I'm looking for. I do absorb most of what I Google up though.

I wasn't commenting on your post. Just every time I bring up StarTron someone ask me my credentials for thinking it works:laugh:
I have just had equipment start running rough. I put in a little ST and they run much better. Most of my stuff is old. I get every penny out of everything and then some:drinkup:
Most of the non ethanol gas stations are out of my route. So it would be time consuming and cost extra fuel to seek out these stations. But it may work for many.

Charles, do you run Startron in your mix gas?

We run 91 ethanol free gas in all our mower, ride ons, aerators, seeders, and hand helds. We've had great luck with equipment and lack of failure. We also run Mobil 1 synthetic in all equipment. So far so good. We will continue to do so until something new and better comes along.

Richard, I'm guessing you know more about this subject than I, but I must admit you are confusing me. You stated previously that water would bind with ethanol and precipate from the solution. This statement about "dry" gas seems to contradict that, and meshes with what I had always understood, that adding alcohol to gasoline causes the water molecules to bind with the alcohol (remember Heet?), allowing them to pass through the filters and harmlessly be burned off, rather than collecting in the filter, eventually blocking the fuel flow, and/or collecting in the bowl of the carb.

Which is actually correct? Thanks. Neill
