I have recently received requests from my clients to have their shrubs pruned/trimmed. However, being in zone 6A, I thought it prudent to wait until spring. On the other hand, I do not wish to turn away $. Your opinions please from those in zone 6. Thank you.

Mark anything that blooms in the spring should not be pruned now. You will loose your sping color. I 'am in zone 4-5 but I am sure the same rules apply. Most Woody's the best time is winter. Those in the conifers family we trim anytime. Others just after they flower. Spirea and Potentilla we cut back in April and then a little trim each month to keep them blooming. I think there is as many times you should prune as there is not too depending on the shrub.
