Alright I need a little help on this guys. I am bidding a property that gets their fenceline hacked back 3x a year. Fence is 5200' long and we are talking about trimming the outside of the fence aprox 3' wide and ground is quite uneven.

Any ideas on how long it would take 2 guys to do this?

I do 3/4 of a mile fence once a month takes about a hour to do both sides but it only a ft on each side

Thank you. This property is just shy of 60 acres but all the rest will be done weekly with the regular mowing. The president of the company said that it takes the guys doing it now alot longer than that. ALOT longer

actually we do a horse farm with that much fence just not as wide, my point is i know companies that do time studies on all there work, they can tell you how long to mow a certain area or weed eat an area, but your right on here it is easier to ask.

If it was to be done once a week or even once a month it would take some of the guess work out of it but every 10 weeks is another thing. I can do a small part of it with our walk behind brush cutter but not much. And I read the spec sheet wrong they want 4' wide.

Boy negative posts dont last long around here do they?

    Anybody else?

We do a drainage ditch approximately the same area you are talking about. Two guys around 2 hours, but we're motivated getting it done. I'd figure an extra MH to be on the safe side.

I have a fenceline that I have to maintian that is approximately 100 yards long, but is very similar to what you are asking about. I have to mow it back anywhere from 3.5'- 8', with most of it averaging 4'-4.5' out from the fence depending on where I am along the fenceline. It takes me about 10 minutes total to do using an old 19" push mower and a trimmer. Times that by 17.6 (for 1760 yards in one mile) and I'd be there for right at 3 hours.

This conversation again, lets get something straight here, a mile of trimming isn't really that much work,
so because it daunted you I'm thinking maybe you better pass on this one.

you mean cut it 3' away from the fence on both sides? i would do that with a mower and then go back and trim what's left next to the fence. i use roundup on fences. it's just faster, easier, and lasts longer. i would roundup 3x a year lol.
