This is probable a stupid question, but here it is. I change my oil every 100 hours religously, but I just changed it tonight at about 123 hours. I am no mechanic so bare with me. The oil had the consistance of hot fudge, not oil. I let the oil drain out then I put a new filter and oil in it and let it run for awhile no problems at all. Just curious why the oil would be so thick. Thanks for any input......

Did you warm the engine up before you changed the oil ?

Thanks for the responses I did not warm the mower before changing the oil. (can't believe I didn't think of that) and I have 423 hours on the mower and I have been using straight 30 the whole time

Always warm the engine up before changing the oil, unless it is contaminated with gas, water or coolant. Also, 100 hours on an oil change is a little bit too long. I recommend changing it every 50 hours. I wise man once told me "oil is the cheapest thing you will ever put in you engine"

Yah I think Kawasaki even recommends every 50 hours for oil. Every 100 for filter I think. I would suggest just doing the filter at 50 when you do the oil. Oil and filters are cheaper than engines.

Pugs I just checked the manual for the kawaski and it said change the oil every 100 hours and change the oil filter every 200 hours but it seems a bit much to me....
