I recently bought my first SpeedFeed head. (Yes, I'm a slow learner.)

I've been using Echo CrossFire line in it, which works fine.

Yesterday, I bought some .095 Echo Black Diamond line at Home Depot just to try it out. I haven't tried it yet, and was wondering if it or any other twisted style line causes any feeding problems with the SpeedFeed head.

I run black diamond .095 in my speed feed head , works perfect but I only run one line . Should feed better with two as it's balanced better and more weight pulling it out. Feed's nice with a light tap at low RPMs . great head for that. Great line , keep buying that stuff so they continue to stock it.

Why do you run only one line?
I can run it longer, more tip velocity does not bite in because air flow and line flexability. I like it for edging, I can push and it cleans out the grove better at low rpm. Trimmer torque is better utilized because it only cuts once per revolution. line is flexible and goes into corners better at fence corners to get the grass out without tearing up the wood post. I don't have to bend over as far to reach my work so I can set the trimmer on or near my hip , saves fratigue. YRMV I'm left handed so how I hold it is going to be different than righties.

No problems except the smaller speed head doesn't like the really thick line over .095 I think:)

How do you feed just one side? Only put line through 1/2 of the head then wrap? I'm honestly interested.
Feed the line in so it just pokes out the other side or is flush with the eyelet and twist as usual. The head does not seem to care . If you find it vibrates you can balance the head by removing material from the head from the line side. Most heads are easier to load with one line , some heads I drill(Husky) a small hole in the spool to capture the line end, bend over line and wrap over insertion point .

I'll try this this week. I have a crew that carries an old push edger because they cannot seem to figure out how to edge with a trimmer. Maybe this will help them.
