I am looking into purchasing a 3 point hitch mount aerator. I have only operated the walk behind machines, but I am trying to find an alternative to walking on lawns that are over an acre because it is so time consuming. I am just curious as to whether or not the 3 point aerators do as good of a job as the walk behind units. The machine I am looking at is the Ryan Lawnaire 48" model. It weighs 675 pounds. I know that the 3 point model won't pull as many plugs per sq foot as the walk behind, but it can be made up by making an extra pass or 2. I guess my main concern is will this unit go down as deep as the walk behind ones, and will it pull the plugs out as well?

    Any information is appreciated.

I have a source one 3-point and love it. It can be a 36-48-60 inch wide tool and will pull a lot of deep plugs.
