Does anyone use a reel mower (self-propelled with some weight to it) on St. Augustine grass and if so will it leave some nice lawns stripes like the cool weather northern grasses???
I live in Houston, TX and my lawn is all healthy St. Augustine mowed and a 3" height. I've been trying different options to stripe it with no success. I just like the look of the northern grasses when they are striped. It just takes a well manicured lawn to a different level IMO.
The main problem with trying to stripe St. Augustine is it just doesn't bend under the normal weight of roller attachments to lawn mowers. I tried several options like the rollers, thick rubber mat and just a plain lawn roller to no avail. Other than re-sodding to a cool weather type grass are there any other options that I can try??? I thought of the reel mower and is why the question is being asked. Thanks ...
