Well I will be using my prototype mower in my lawn service this summer. I've been debating on whether to separate the miles and expenses of building the prototype from the lawn service or to just lump it all in. I'm not telling the insurance guy about the prototype but there is nothing wild about it, it will have below blade sides all around except rear discharge and the blade tip speed will be no higher than 200mph. No I'm not telling what kind of mower it is. There are already about 6 companies making the same basic machine.

Manufacturing/developing and lawn service are 2 seperate businesses although in your case they are related. I think the IRS wants 2 seperate sets of books for each "business". Consult a business tax professional.
