Does anyone know the nut size of the flywheel retaining nut on a Briggs 16 Vanguard twin? Do you need a special puller to remove the flywheel ?

i would get the nut and puller from your briggs distributor. that way you will be sure they will work.

Just to make my question clear, what I meant to ask is what size socket fits the flywheel nut.

A ruler or tape measure will quickly tell you that. Why in the world
do you want to remove the flywheel?
  5. Book doesn't give me nut size, I seem to remember 3/4 or 13/16 or 7/8, so not too much help there.
Just a regular wheel puller to remove flywheel.

I had to remove the flywheel and alternator to put it on another engine that didn't come with an alternator.

The socket size is 1 3/16".

    Thanks for the replies!
