If I was using your deck, I would take out the baffle in front of the blades. The baffle reduces the volume of space for the cut debris to move in there for forcing it out in the area that you speak of. I have an old 62" SD deck and there is no baffle in the front and I have no blow out problems.

Where is there a baffle? I see no obvious signs?

The 26efi is a great motor. All of our GHS models have it. But get it serviced by the dealer at least once a year to make sure it's performing as it should. Learn all the grease points on the machine -- there are lots of them -- and grease it as often as your patience will allow.
