want this truck!

    after our 98 dump truck takes a dump, lol, this will be our new hauler!! cant wait, drive it like ya stole it!!!

    you guys that run these trucks, how do you like them? heard good things, how much do you guys carry w/ it, tons/yards, etc...

    its just a dirtymax, with a bigger frame, just like the old gmc topkicks, they were dogs... same motor and trans in a one ton, but just in a heavy truck...

    I wouldn't go with that, I'd go with this if you want a small dump:


    Might as well get a REAL dump truck :)

    I agree those new 4500 and 5500 Chevys are a over glorified 1 ton with a huge ugly cab on them I wouldn't buy one if I wanted a medium duty dump it would be something else.

    Chevy really did something stupid and got rid of the 3500HD it was like a F-450 Ford had 19.5 wheels and a normal P/U truck body on it. You could drive around and the truck doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. How in the H*ll are you going to sneak past the DOT with a truck like the 4500 or 5500 ? you can't.

    How are you supposed to park in neighbourhoods that don't allow larger trucks with a 4500/5500. How are you supposed to try use city streets that don't allow trucks.

    You can get away with alot of things with a F-450 like sneaking past DOT road checks or passing a scale.

    They may be bigger, and less convenient than a 450 or 550, but GM has ALWAYS made good medium duty trucks, alll the way back to the old c-40 and 50's with INline six gas motors and 2-speed rears.

    I've had the priviledge in driving a 4500 with a d-max, and trust mne I wouldn't hesitate in buying one. Im nbot saying that GM makes the best medieum duty, Like International, or freightliner, what im saying is they have always made affordable long lasting trucks in all sizes, and longevity wise are as good as any.

    The only bad thing about them 4500's and 5500's and such is that GM packs the engine under the hood wish lube and a shoe horn. I would hate to have to change belts on that as you have absolutley no room to get in there.

    The cabs also seem a bit tight fitting. IMO an F450 or F550 has more interior room that one of the gm 4500's of 5500's. I do like the higher profile though!

    That Freightliner is great! When I am in the market for a medium duty truck, It will be a freightliner M2 with the mercedes benz diesel!

    Honestly, I'd rather have an International or Freightliner for a medium duty dump truck. Those GM 4500/5500 are ugly as hell.

    i used to drive a 4500, 8.1L w/ Allison.........truck had balls, brakes sucked

    good for getting in and out of driveways, towing skid steers etc and you can put fair weight of material in the back
