CA Study....Do you really have to water a lawn twice a day everyday in So. CA to have it look good? What is the main turf being used? Might want to hire some Texans to introduce better turfgrass.

I'm still bedazzled CA or any state allows unmetered water.
Just getting around to smart water meters. Aren't you special. We've had them in Richardson, TX for years if they are talking about the same thing.

CA can be late to the party but they get treated like hollywood stars. It isn't special just because CA is getting around to doing it.

Just about any southern turf would be better off over in CA. What exactly do they use? Or is it JUST overwatering, keep the roots at 1", but green?

In So Cal we mostly have tall fescue varieties. There is also some perennial ryegrass as well. Mostly Fescue though.....

Due to the title of the thread, I just thought I'd put this in here.

Water Conservation seminar at Ewing this Tuesday, and I think the Toro (gasp!!) rep will be there. Hopefully they will discuss the new Toro Precision nozzles. Anyone use them yet?

Also, a shout out to TomTom for picking up QB 2010 at Sam's Club for me. $90 at Sam's, $149 at CostCo (where I have a membership), and $199 MSRP. My computer crashed so I needed QB anyway for the new one, and it was time to upgrade from 2007.

I'd like to try out some of the precision spray nozzles but the Toro rep is too stingy here. RB gives me new stuff to try it out so I can learn how it works, it's strengths, etc. Toro won't give away ANYTHING, not even a hat. If I can't get even 5 or 10 of them to try for free, I'm not going to push them.

RB gave me a SMRT-Y a couple of weeks ago. Haven't gotten around to installing it yet.

Good article. I had my meter switched last year to wireless. Now if I can just figure out how to screw with the customers that don't pay!!! It would be worth it
