I bought a landscaping business last November & the owner supplies bottles of water for the x 5 employees. He also had an ice maker which the guys used to fill up the coolers.
We have since moved to a storage facility and I still supply water, circa 50 bottles per day but no ice. The guys are buying ice from the gas station on their company card and I wanted to see if this was normal?

Do you all provide water, and / ice for the your staff?

I’m thinking of telling them we no longer provide ice and they can bring in their own or freeze bottles at home for the next day because the ice alone is $3 per day = $720 per year?

Which is cheaper $720 a year or a ice machine?

Small perks go along way for morale.

I have two old milk jugs in my shop freezer. They each have a gallon of frozen water in them. I throw one in a 5 gallon water cooler each morning and fill it up with water. Then all me and my guy needs is a bottle to fill it up.

I'd be hesitant to take that away.

Ask yourself when the time comes for the guys to cut a corner or not cut a corner what do you think they will do?

I’d be more concerned with 5 guys at the store buying ice on company time.
