Can't seem to figure this one out...
Looks like annual ryegrass..
Annual ryegrass has leaves 3/4 of an inch thick?
Quackgrass is a possibility.
Wait; did you say 3/4 inches wide? Not Quackgrass. Put a ruler or penny in the pic for scale. What state or climate?
Corn? Are you near a field
Connecticut. Not near a corn field
Looks like maybe straw germinating....
Ron makes a good point. If it was mulched with wheat straw--then it is wheat.
Was anybody feeding turkeys, squirrels, or birds? With corn?
Ya maybe some kind of bird seed? Baby day Lilly? millet? wild Timothy?
The area was mulched with straw that claims to be 99.99% weed free. Bought it from a reputable landscape supply store. Could that be what it is?
