Found this in a customer’s Kentucky bluegrass lawn. Very wide leaf. What exactly is it?
Is it just a really thick quackgrass weed?
I see no mid-vein. My vote goes to tall fescue--one of the old time pasture types. K-31, for instance. Edges of the leaf blade are rough to the touch.
Buy your seed carefully. Big box stores seldom have good advice or trained salespeople. Buy at a seed dealer, horticulture supplier, or at least a garden store/nursery. Otherwise, you must spend a lot of time reading the labels and fine print on the back of the seed bag. Low-cost seed is a risk.
For a moment... I thought it was St. Augustine.
