When can I apply weed killer other than what I put down for crabgrass last week? I seeded fescue last Sept/Oct. Didn't know when was a good time to spray something on my lawn that won't kill the grass. What would you suggest? I've got some clover, something else that's growing now that's going to have a white flower and dandellions(not speeled right I don't think). Should I wait a little longer or is it too early since I put out the crabgrass preventer last week? I know the crabgrass prevent is just that and won't kill other weeds.

Frontier, different weeds come up at different times depending on temperature. Weed B Gone liquid works fine, but it is best applied when weeds are young and growing fast. About the time dandelions first bloom is good. Or did you plan on a weed and feed with fertilizer? If with fertilizer, there is a risk of disease later on, but more fertilizer would improve thickness. More fert should be spaced 5 weeks from your last fertilizer application. But if you are in a hurry--and don't mind excess mowing due to excess fertilizer--you can go ahead a little sooner. Remember that more weeds will come up later on as temps increase. If you kill the March weeds, what about the May weeds and the June?

I heard that I shouldn't put anymore fertilizer on the fescue until fall. Something like it will put the fescue in more stress if put fertilizer on in the summer. Unless I put out like a weed and feed in say the last of April and then no more fertilizer until fall (Aug/Sept). Would this be ok? I'm trying not to have a lot of weeds. I want my lawn to be nice looking. Should I spray with weed B gone now and then weed and feed in April or May, apply weed and feed in April or May and then spray later?

Well, let me tell you what I did. All of my big sprayer stuff is in SC. I take care of my mother-in-law's lawn (fescue) which is only about 9K. I have a hose end applicator that came with Image from some years back. The contents of the applicator is calibrated to cover 8K of turf. I mixed up enough Trimec & surfactant to cover the 9K; put it in the 8K applicator bottle and sprayed the lawn. All of the "White-Flower" stuff is drooping and what other stuff that came up before the pre-em went down. I wouldn't have though it would have worked, but it did. Just a thought. In NC, I'd get on it now.

Can I spray the weed-b-gone now? I've been mowing at 3" thinking the weeds would get shaded out. Maybe the grass isn't thick enough yet or won't be until I overseed again in the fall. I think if I get a good start on getting the weeds under control or out then next year should be better. Its going to rain tonight and another chance Monday. The temps are 75,65,61,67,70 starting today and ending Monday. The night temps are 57,34,40,53 starting tonight. I didn't know if I should spary the whole yard Saturday or not. If its going to rain Monday.
