these are university websites. they will give you factual, non-biased info.
the last one gives you a good synopsis of centipede.

i was told by a UGA turf grass specialist that i should use 1lb N / 1k sf 2x's/yr. sure the recommedations vary by location. He said they used to recommend 1.5 lb N / 1k sf 1x/yr, but they have found that 2 apps of 1 lb N / 1k/yr sf optimizes growth w/o increasing the occurence of disease. disease is a problem with centipede when there is excessive fertilization.

This is true. Also ALMOST equal amounts of potash is generally used PLUS Iron for that lush look. I can't use any extra pre-emergence as I have to overseed the whole yard. Most turfgrass will chock out weeds if the growth is vigerous enough. Mine looked acceptable last year but nothing to enter a garden show. This is only my second year of ownership. Had to even fill holes along the fence where dogs were allowed to dig without any control. Awful people The yard had NO fertlizer, weed control, or anything for 12 years. See what I'm facing.

You might also add that you have a vested interest in that Chemical company.

Yep and I can buy it at Sam's Club and apply it as a surfactant. Just because it also kills Crabgrass as a side benefit. I am sure you know what it is, so let us leave it there.

is that how you do it ric?

Norm Al

You do what you have to do and yes it is legal as a surfactant. As long as I use it as a surfactant the fact that it also kills crabgrass is a side benefit. I can not apply it as a herbicide or spot treat with it. But I can mix it as a surfactant for my spot treatment of an other Herbicide. Chemistry is a wonderful thing to have knowledge of. Law is another good thing to have knowledge of.

Now before you make a come back. It is a well known fact many companies particularly in central Florida are still using the Ag version of Asulox and claiming it is legal or just getting away with it. The BEPC send out notices years ago that Asulox was no longer acceptable even in old hort labeled jugs. I still have about 5 gallons of Asulox in the old hort labeled jugs and I can not use it legally any more.

True most Spray companies are doing nothing or very little about weed control in general. Between that and Dr Laurie of the Extension service and U of Fla going around giving seminar about there are no good St Augustine weed killers, My competitive edge is Weed Control. True the Surfactant thing is a loop hole in the law and I try and do everything legal. I also know you have a pretty good Idea of what I am using and won't tell anyone because it would Kill the sale of your product.

ric why would anyone be afraid of knowing whats in a product when its written right on the label?

everyone knows what roundup is made out of but i dont mix my own, i purchase the labeled product.

all the products we use are nothing more than tools to accomplish a job, a shovel is made out of wood but i dont wittle my own. i purchase one and make the money it makes me.

You need to read your own signature Line. Maybe you should stop remembering it and actually use it.
