    I believ that to be a monarch butterfly still in the caterpillar stage...

    Its not a monarch. they have black stripes like a bumble bee. :)

    In Hawaii, a caterpillar similar to that turns into a large moth.

    Kapena, welcome to the site, it's always nice to have somebody else from the same state with the same conditions as you. I was starting to feel like I was the only one from hawaii.
