I live in the Raleigh, NC area and the last two fall seasons these things have been crawling all over my driveway. They resemble grubs to some extent but are much larger (1 to 2 inches long, and much thicker then your typical grub) then most grubs I'm aware of. And they crawl around sort of like caterpillars. Does anybody have any idea what these things are or how to get rid of them?

I've tried some grub killer which seems to help some, but I don't think they're grub. I'm guessing something is laying eggs in my yard sometime in the spring(?) season and these are the result of that.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Check the raster pattern. I don't know the timing for your area. Might be a southern masked chafer grub. Mature third instars which you would probably be seeing now, can be about an inch long.
