    i like to discharge most of the time, and mulch leaves in the fall, with varying weather conditions in the north

    mostly Kentucky blue grass, with some others growing but i dont remember what

    According to Lawnsite posters, Scag and Deere discharge best. Ferris is not as open as these brands but many swear by them.

    Personally run Exmark and Toro which are closed decks. Great cut in dry conditions but clump in wet and overgrown conditions.

    Most say they are among if not the best at discharging.

    Can't argue with your experience though.

    I like the grasshopper, have never let me down. Keep in mind the deck size to engine size as well as a diesel vs gas vs lp. Torque matters in the thick wet or tall. Keep the deck clean, I usually cover underside with used oil once in a while prevents the sticking makes cleaning out easier the little that does.
