I know I've seen similar posts like this (and did a search to try and find the specific one I remember reading) ... but what oil do you use in your mower or mowers? Do you use what your dealer recommended ... do you use a synthetic, and if so what brand ... or do you use what's the cheapest (don't really expect many people to say this).

If you would like to share any reasons why you use what you do ... please feel free to pass that along to the rest of us too.

there is NO advantage to using synthetic, in some engines....

high tolarances, your just NOT going to find in these engines....

once you reach 1/1000 of an inch then synthetic have a use, But come on I know of 2 companies that can build engines with these tolarances....

I use whatever it states in the manual.

On my old Kaws, I use SAE-30, and it works fine even in the older engines. Sometimes I run out and use 10w-30, but then it starts consuming oil.

I used SAE30 in my 13hp Kawasaki for the first 200 hours of the machine's life, but I switched to Synthetic 10w-40.

    Penzoil 10W-30.

Sears just had a sale, $2 / quart.

Also, Wal Mart regularly sells the 5 quart jugs for $10.87. All of the local auto parts stores sell the 4 quart jugs for that price, or more. IIRC, Havoline was $9.97.
