What pipe do you like to use to make up manifolds?

I've seen both PVC and poly used for manifolds. It seems poly would be easier to use and easier to work with if you ever need to change out a valve body. Is there any reason not to use it for main lines and manifolds?

Hand made, SCH40 fittings and cut pieces of pipe.

    Poly manifolds look like ****.

This was a valve replacement that I did:

Nice re-do Jon.....gives me shivers remembering some of the botched poly
manifolds we've replaced. I think Hank Reardon has a shot of the repair
from hell, maybe he can post it.

Sch 40 and toe nipples can build a compact manifold :p

Yeah, but Dura Male Adapters can do the same:

We use sch 40 pipe and fittings. I use enough pipe between fittings in case I ever have to do a repair. 3 valves is the most I ever install in a 12" Valve box or 4 in a jumbo. With all the service I do I will NEVER use a 6" valve box.....

Before and after pics on a manifold we replace.....

This is what happens when you turn west coasters on to poly.
