    Barberry I believe also has thorns and leaves like one. Looks a little beat up

    Yep, Japanese Barberry. It is now banned from importation in Massachusetts along with lots of other common nursery plants due to its invasive qualities.

    Burning bush and Norway Maple are a couple of other very widely used plants being banned. The trend to ban plants is growing very fast, so this kind of thing may be heading your way before you know it.

    AGLA I'm in you're area ,and i know my plants but this one only took a second for that very reason,those damn things are great for birds but bad for natives.good advice.

    berberis thunbergii...... invasive in connecticut also
