What Should My Spreader Setting Be?

    I have an original Scott's SpeedyGreen rotary. Its settings run from 1 to 18 in 1/2 increments. I use Loveland Prevent and Weed N Feed from my local Grasspad here in Kansas City. A lot of the products I get do not have the spreader settings for my spreader. Does anyone know what my setting should be? Thanks.

    You have to calibrate for each product. Weigh a pound--apply it--measure how many sqft you covered. Adjust up or down to come closer to the ideal amount.

    Yep calibrate it, settings mean nothing except for a starting point.

    I actually calibrate on my own lawn, makes a good testing ground. I know the sq ft, and I set the spreader conservative, then nudge up from there. Hone it right on in that way. So I get my lawn done plus some legwork, and the slight difference in app rate from changing my gate opening does not show up at all.
