Hey, I'm working on a Kohler ch23s 776553 engine in a z trak mower. There is gas spraying out of the top of the carburetor, especially when the throttle is opened. I have cleaned the carb and checked the fuel shutoff solenoid, also tried a different working carb from another z trak mower engine.
I'm wondering what to do next, is this a valve problem maybe?

Pull your valve covers, make sure you don't have any bent pushrods, stripped rocker arm bolts, broken rockers. Spin it over make sure all 4 valves are opening fully, all the same. If not, sounds like you got a wiped out camshaft lobe.
