Any ideas of what to put behind this retaining wall?? I was thinking of putting in large pots in the crushed stone and putting some creeping junipers to fill in behind it. I don't want to put dirt in over the rocks cause i don't want to disrupt the water draining from the hill side. Can Junipers live in large pots for a long period of time? Thanks in advanced!!!

Use a high quality geosynthetic fabric to cover stone, then cover fabric with good topsoil. Shouldn't affect drainage.

convince them to go with a ground cover. Example Red crushed brick it would look really good and will make the plants stand out alot and the wall will really look good with the brick in behind it, but do the brick all over the whole area there behind the wall.

Will the roots penetrate the fabric??

you dont want to leave anything in the pot, other wise the plant will strangle itself, roots shouldnt penetrate and top soil wont effect the drainage, also try things like hens and chicks or perenials
