    I wouldn't buy either.

#1 Dodge trucks are known for having weak trannies. It's nothing new and apparently something theycontinue to have a lot of trouble with. Just this week they announced another auto tranmission recall. There are 4 Dodge pickups on my block. 3 have been in for problems with the auto tranny.

#2 Like Rustic Goat says the Chevy has a V-6. A gas V-8 is the minimum engine required.

Just make your decision on your needs. How much will you be towing. Will you be towing everyday. Is gas mileage important.

Might be better to buy a little older of a vehicle 98-2000 and not regret your purchase. If you are thinking of upgrading (trailer, towing capabilities) might want to think about a 3/4 ton. wish thats what I went with at first, and after two new 1500's, I made the right move.
P.S. I sold cars for 3 years out of high school while starting my business. Every one makes a good truck, the fact of the matter is GM makes that much better of a truck.

My girlfriend sells cars sells cars for a living. She would not own a Dodge as they create grief because they keep coming back broke and the custemer is pissed.
