A friend of mine just farmed out his lawn work and is looking to sell his 48" cut scag, belt drive, I think around 12 years old with residential use only... He's got ~2-1/2 acres and is pretty manaical about his home/tool/equipment maintenance.

I'm thinking about purchasing it from him. What would be a fair price? He told me it was $2600 new. 3-5 year old 48" hydrostatic drive Scags can be had around here for ~$1500 but these are commercial units and have some hard miles.

Also... Is it possible to convert older Scag units to mulch? How tough is the maintenance on them? Are they "homeowner manageable"?
