When to fertilize?

I just had my yard core aerated along with seed. Last fall was the first time my yard was core aerated and it made a difference, except it was late October and did not get the full benefits of the aeration. I still have approximately a 40x40 area with various dead areas with no grass. Should I put down fertilizer now or wait a few weeks until the grass begins to grow? Secondly, what type of fertilzer do you recommend?

In addition, I water the area each morning for an hour.

if you havent put down any fertilzer you could put down a starter fertilzer now and this would help it establish much quicker and have better color

now...starter fertilizer(it'll be labelled that way at your favorite big box) and stop watering everyday or the rest of your lawn will soon look like your 40x 40 patch, wiped out by rot and fungus. Deep, infrequent cycles are the key, not mud bog making.
