most people have no clue what lime does, so i need opinions from the pros. we have traditionally limed in mid to late november, and again in spring, of course, only if needed. i need opinions on when to lime, is november too late? thanx

No, November is not too late ... it actually takes a minimum of 2-3 months for most lime applications to actually start to affect and change the soil Ph anyway, so over the winter while most grasses are dormant or at least slower growing, it is the best time for letting the lime "do it's thing".
