When to start advertising again?

    For those who take the winter off to plow when do you start advertising? Last year I think I was a little too early. I started in March with ZERO CALLS! Then skipped April due to a huge snow storm then ran a ad from May until September. But This year I think I will start in the 2nd half of March and run one all summer. And I am going to try the flyer thing, I'm just making a nice detailed ad and making copies and see what I get.

    I advertise for residential in March and April and call on prospective commercial accounts Nov. to Feb., March is usually to late.

    We do residential in MD so we start mid March, then again mid April, then the end of April and then once more when it is really hot out. There is a reason behind all these. The first one gets the people that are thinking ahead. The second is for the people that see their grass is long and better get someone to do it. The third are for the people that cut it once and said "Forget This" and the summer is for the people that said "I am not mowing grass when it is 95F out side"

    Plus we hit the same neighborhood over and over again. They know who we are.

    I've already started advertizing but mine is also for snow plowing.

    I'll put an ad in the local paper last week of march until june. I'll be putting flyers out first or second week of april depending on weather.

    I started last year at the end of January and went into May. No calls in January, February and not until late March.

    Hi nobagger,

    People won't call you until they need you but that shouldn't stop you from getting your name out. The more you get the word out about your company the more you are adding value to your brand. Then ideally when a potential customer needs your service, they will call you instead of someone else.

    GlennZ really had some good ideas!
