I am in the market for a blade sharpener. I have been looking at the oregons mostly I have also been looking at the magna matics - the lower model (9000) I believe. What are your guys thoughts and experience with these units and others. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A lot of guys on lawnsite use angle grinders and so do I. At least it is a tool that can be used for many other things.

I am not really interested in a angle grinder. I want more of a dedicated blade sharpener.

I have the MM 9000 and absolutely LOVE it. I actually just sharpened about 6 sets of blades yesterday and was thinking bout how great it is to have a dedicated tool for sharpening. Expensive but well worth it.

Do you have any extras for it? Anything that you think you should have for it to work better or how you like it? Does the wheel move to adjust the angle? I see more info for the 8000 than the 9000....

If money were no object, a Burr King would be nice to have. Would be a great tool to use on other stuff as well. But man, the price is just to rich for my blood.

I purchased the whole workstation with stand and balancer. I also bought the extended table for it which I'd also recommend. Gives much more support along the length of the blade. The wheel moves up and down to adjust as it wears. The only downfall is you can't do wavy mulch blades. For that you will need the 8000

I kinda thought the same thing about the extended table. I am leaning toward the 9000 but my partner is kinda liking the oregon models. I just cant find much info good/bad for the oregon.

Tried the oregon and was not impressed. Went with a 10" wet grinder. Made a angle die to lock in a 30 degree edge and with the wet grind you do not change the temper of the steel.

i just bought an rbg last week.the 2181 p.i also bought the magna matic balancer.the grinder is awsome and the balancer is even more cool.i thought my blades were balanced but after putting them on the balancer it showed me how far out of wack they really were.

I bought the Magna Matic 8000. That thing is freakin sick! Unless you need to do mulching blades you will be fine with the 9000, but I bought the sharpener, balancer, stand, and extended work table.....super expensive, but so worth it!

I'm pretty sure most people use a bench or angle grinder, I use both.
I would however buy a chainsaw sharpener if I used my saws much.

I bought a chain sharpener over the winter. Man does it make quick work at sharpening chainsaw chains. Very accurate and consistent. No hand filing crap here!

I bought a Magna Matic 9000 and balancer last year, very good investment, easy to use. I wouldn't use anything else.
