ok, I'm upgrading the mowing fleet w/ new walk-behinds and ztr's I purchasing all new for my 3 crews. It's time and I've gotten more than my money worth out of these machines but as you all know the older machines struggle w/ wet grass. I need some input on which ztr you feel handles wet and tall grass (spring mowing conditions) I will be looking at 50 to 60 inch cuts and most likely put a bagging system on it. Please tell me your thoughts and opinions.

IMO, If I wanted a 60 inch ZTR and money wasn't an option, I'd buy the Hustler Super Z with a 27HP Liquid-Cooled Kawasaki and Bac-Vac. I have put over 800 hours on one these this year with no problems. Awesome machine! Bags great! You also could demo a Kubota Diesel ZD Series. Very comfortable (if properties are bumpy). Just my 2 cents. :D

I would go with the Kubota ZD28(if money is no option) or maybe a John Deere 737 or 757

I think that the dixie's would handle the tall/wet grass the best. their discharge shute is wide open compared to hustler and exmark wich have smaller discharge shutes. besides that the 50hp generac engine probably wouldn't even feel it.

I have no doubt at all these guys who have posted above me are being honest.
But if I were you I would only accept opinions from guys located nearby because all wet grass is not created equally everywhere.

You should also mention what style of vac system you prefer. Bagged or quick dump.

I run the scag turf tigers with the 61" deck and the clam shell bagger system and have good luck in wet grass even bagging it. I especially like the bagger to just back up to where you want to dump and pull the lever beside you and it dumps the grass out without getting off the mower. I have the 27hp kohlers on mine. I would also recommend to kubotas if cash is not a problem. these are the ones i've had experience and good luck with.
