Perhaps he wants a full pound of N...if so, the 16-0-3 is $ .33 more per M or roughly $ 14 more per acre.....at 12500 you only get .64 from the 16....just a thought.

Either way, $ 2 per m is WAY too much to be paying this year.

Ah, but it doesn't work that way. We get the same quality of green using less N because the organic matter blended with the synthetic N is more efficient, i.e a higher % of the applied N is absorbed by the plant.

Other benefits of organic matter are increased drought and disease tolerance and improved P uptake. Budgeting for organic matter is just as important as budgeting for NPK.

I live in a rural farm area and I go to the local fert house and get mine. They take a scale out and we scoop into bags, I mix it it a old cement mixer at the farm. I get it for $6.00 a bag 50#. You really pay for the convenience of it being bagged for you but at $6.00 a bag and I only spread about 1000# the saving was to much to pass up. I buy bags of pelleted lime for $6.00 a bag. They told me that they keep some in bulk for guys that don't get there beans in in time I can get it for $1.00 a bag. It isn't't covenant but it is cheaper.

Wow, what percentage of it is slow release? What is the release mechanism? I could deal with that. my dad has tons of empty reusable feed bags laying around.

Like I said, either way I'm not paying $ 2.00 - 2.33 per M for fert for the limited weeks of green. Whether or not what you say is fact, I will give you the benefit of the doubt.

Check for a local Helena. You are getting ripped on your price.

The $6.00 a 50lb bag is Agricultural grade product from the 'ol fert bin.
Thats what I figured. Probably straight AN or AS, no good for home lawns under most circumstances.

I was hoping the poster would chime in to confirm, if it is good stuff, I would look into getting some.

I will take pictures of the yards I do. I will have to have my daughter post them I don't know how and don't have time. It doesn't't really matter if you believe me or not that is what I'm paying for mine. It is not a slow release but check the price difference. Just throwing some ideas out there for you guys. I work 7 days a week don't have much time to get on here but really like it in the winter. I fertilize more than one time and and I put lime on to the cost for time release is stupid , you need water and sun and the right mowing height you miss any of those 3 you loose no matter what you put on the yard. Just my 2 cents been called stupid before so don't old back.

Huh? Who was arguing. I believe your price and understand what you are doing. I don't care what you pay or how you burn lawns up. It does make a difference what you put on the lawn or turf when you do control the water and mowing height of your properties.

:laugh: Love me some "Magic Carpet" fertilizer. Nice and sticky on those humid days we have around here. Do so well at the fert plant screening it that there's "asteroids". If you really get a good batch, you might find some pigeon feathers or splinters in it from the "sweepings." Good Stuff.:dizzy:
