I was on my first yard to day, whistling and mowing as usual. Then I realized that I need time to warm up before Im good at getting close to things with my ZTR.

I was going up the side of the driveway, and I came up to the morning newspaper. It was all wrapped up nice in a plastic coverd roll. The paper seemed extra big today too. It was at the edge of the driveway, so I thought I would just mow around it.

So I think im so good that I can get really close to anything I want and everything will be fine...........not today.

All of the sudden the left blade grabbed some of the plastic covering, and in a flash, TTTTHHHHHWWWWAAAAAACCCCKKKK!!!!
The large morning news paper was shredded confetti across the front yard.

I couldn't' believe I just did that. What a mess. And the grass was wet too. I picked up as much of it as I could with my hands. Then I started mowing the grass in one direction, blowing everything toward the bushes on the other side of the yard. Then I re-cut it again at a higher hight. When I was done, you couldn't' tell that there was a shredded morning newspaper scattered across the front yard.

I never did tell the customer. I bet the paper boy is going to catch heck.

Believe it or not I ran over a (I assume dead before I hit it) little yellow bird in a back yard. It was just like a cartoon a cloud of feathers etc came flying out the open discharge. I nearly fell over, what to the heck do I do now? scraped it up and mowed over yard till no evidence was left.

Also found out a 52" bunton hydro with 16hp vanguard WILL cut one of the small 3/8" electric metal posts. It didnt like it and i didnt either. Same as you I had trimmed along this fence for over a year and then wham. It didnt cut clean but did come into.

I got a news paper once. I just emptied the grass gobbler, and When I hit the paper, The whole inside of the grass gobbler turned white. I just kept going, laughing like a little kid.

I got a little close to a yellow ribbon wrapped around a tree, It seemed like slow motion. Sucked the whole thing in. Now you see it, Now you don't.

I was dumping leaves from my Ultra Vac on a tarp during a cleanup last fall....... 3rd dump.. oops, forgot to disengage the blades

Weeelllll....had doubles on, and the tarp started to pull up under the machine, just as I go for the PTO, it starts to stall....... whew, it's over....... NOT.... machine tears a big chunk o' tarp free, and continues to run........ I kill the ignition, then cut the rest of the tarp free of the machine, then remove the blades, to get the rest........ there was a 3' x 5' piece missing from that tarp, and none of the debris was bigger than a few inches square.....

Oh yeah... had to rake up all the "blue" from the lawn... LOL
Glad nothing was broken, nobody hurt, I laughed all day.

I used that tarp for a few more cleanups....... good reminder not to be stupid.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

I used to be a paperboy for 7 years!!!

Not telling the customer is OK in this situation, IF...
you stop what you are doing and drive to the nearest newspaper box and buy them another paper, and deliver it to their house.

I thought this was a PROFESSIONAL forum?

I had an employee scatter a newspaper this spring. Trust me, there is virtually NO WAY you can get all the pieces by hand. We cleaned up newspaper for 15 minutes using hand, backpack blower, and bagger mower, and there were still a few pieces.

You think you got away with it but I think you're BUSTED:eek:

I probably should have told the customer, but there was no one home at the time. Now that its night and im thinking about it, I should have gone off and bought a newspaper. What is it 50 cents?

Your right, there was small piece's still. I was hoping the birds would eat them lol. Im probably totally busted. God that paper exploded.

Hey if they get mad Ill just buy them two weeks worth of subscription, and act really sorry. Ill play stupid, and say I was going to tell you, but I got busy and forgot.

Playing dumb works for me a lot.

Nice to see someone else does that - I have done it with mowers and snow blowers - Snow Blowers are the worst because you have to replace shear pins, however, the JD snow blowers take only about 30 seconds to replace all three shear pins on a two stage blower.
