Just looking for some insight on what to do with a couple potted Japanese Maple seedlings during the winter. I basically found them growing naturally in a landscape bed during a spring cleanup job and dug them out. Don't worry it was from a friend. I have them each in what I think would be a 1-2 gallon pot (~8-10" diameter). One is about 1.5' high the other just sort of stayed at 3-4". I was told by a few to bury the pots in the ground to prevent freezing. I will also cover to prevent snow damage. Located in Buffalo, NY.

    Any input or ideas appreciated.
