Well today my mower broke down again as it has been doing quite a bit lately, While I was at the shop impatiently waiting I decided to rent one for the day and get back to work. Around the corner came a mower that I have never seen before World Lawn 52 inch 23kawi, looked kinda like an exmark. I really like this mower smooth ride, fast fast, and an incredible cut, my question is does anyone own this mower and how does it hold up.

I needed a small enough WB to get through gates. I looked at Toro and Ekmark. My dealer asked what I was going to use it on. She suggested lokking at World Lawn. She did have a 33" and a 28". I demo'ed them, and chose the 33". I was very leerry of a Chine made machine, but this dealer has been in business forever. She showed me the World Lawn and a Exmark side by side. Close. The cut on the World Lawn is awesome. I will highly recommend buying one.

I am not an exmark owner but I have seen both and I think the only thing these 2 mowers have in common is the color red.

I would run far and fast from any Chinese made equipment as a general rule.

My neighbor has Kioti tractor and he says that the dealer in our area has had alot of problems with getting them to back their warranty.

And on his tractor, he has had problems with the bolts on the clutch coming loose, and a pin in the transmission coming apart.

All this to say, while I know nothing about those mowers, China does not have a good track record for making high quality stuff

They appear a little like a Ferris. The pics on their corporate website of the factory look alot like someone brought some machines into and empty warehouse and took a couple of pics. No manufacturing mess anywhere??? The assembly line??? Looks like a bunch of new mowers with plastic bags on them?

I am toying with the 28" World lawn for the spring. We run (3) Walker 48" but I have 4 very high end yards with gates for back yards too small to get through. I hate hand mowers, and the machine would not be used full time. If you're considering the world lawn for your #1 machine, i think that would be a mistake.

I bought a 33" World Lawn. Excellent machine for the 4 lawns I use it on. Excellent cut. Not a issue. It does have a Briggs engine, but could have a Honda also if you want. I don't know how they would hold up cutting 40 - 80 hours a week. I use it maybe 2 hours a week. Some things from China are junk, then some things are good. Since it has a well known name brand engine, and if you have a well respected and knowledgable dealer, get 1. But buy 1 as a back up. You can buy 2 - 3 World Lawns for 1 Exmarks anyway.

The only reason dealers are stocking these units are because of the extremely high margin opportunity. Instead of selling a $6000.00 machine and making $300-800, now they can make $1500.00. So how do you make a good mower cheap and make alot of money selling it. My answer is you can't. Its just China trying to profit off an American Originated machine. Maybe in the years to come they'll produce something with more quality and then we'll also see the price rise. Kind of the similar thing they did when they first got into the Automotive industry. Cheap junk to start, then quality progressed and prices are now generally more than most American made comparisons.

lone wolf that is exactly my thinking on the units , we are looking at 20 units and i can get 3 36" with mulch plate headlights and a set of blades for each for what my local dealer is asking for exmarks in the same size .

There are very few if any 28" walk behinds. Exmark make the 26 ", but aside from that, I haven't seen many. 21"s are not cost effective, and if you have a few properties that have gates, the 28" is not a bad alternative. Also for me, we run an 18' trailer, and space is tight.

I agree with what you are saying, BUT, the price of the labor is pathetic over there. That is one reason why they can produce them so much cheaper even if they had the same components as the US big boys. Heck they probably even use the Briggs engine that was moved over there.

And yes for light use these do seem to be good cutting mowers.

Turfdawg how many hours do you think the 36" floating deck world lawn would last running it ,say 4 -5 hours a day ?????? i would be able to replace the unit on any given week just was curious .
we plan to opperate them a minimum of 400 hours before the crews would upgrade or 1200 if the unit fits the jobs and noupgrade was needed.

cant beat the cut for the price. have had a 33" for a year and used it at least 8 hours a week. awesome striping, and detachable mulch plate is quick to use and very handy. trading it in though because if you have any hills at all, you will be the one pushing it up the hill, the belt drive is very inefficient.
