TRACTOR DRIVER KILLED: New Castle County police Saturday evening were searching for the driver of a white minivan that was involved in a fatal lawn-tractor crash. Police said a 44-year-old Bear man was driving the lawn tractor from his driveway onto the 200 block of Reybold Road about 5 p.m. when the minivan struck him from behind. The tractor, which did not have lights or reflectors, was towing a log splitter. The impact threw the man into a ditch, and the log splitter landed on top of him, causing massive head injuries, police said. He was taken to Christiana Hospital, where he died. The minivan driver fled toward Old Baltimore Pike, and the vehicle was found unoccupied in the parking lot of the Pike Shoppes on Old Baltimore Pike. The victim's identity was not available Saturday night.
