z910a deck belt

    Broke the deck belt at 100 hours put new one on. Its on correct spring is tight, now then running belt smells like its smoking. Looks like belt is pulling up on idler where spring is attached. What am i doing wrong.

    Unfortunately you have to find the problem asap or you'll be out another $60 or $80 or what these things cost.

    That having been said...
    Usually when a belt does what you describe it's because it accidentally got routed the wrong way around a belt guide
    which is basically a piece of steel designed to keep it in place, when the belt goes around this guide the wrong way
    it rubs WHEN engaged but may look fine otherwise.

    That's what I think, a minor glitch in your belt routing, makes you think it's ok but
    you'll likely have to take good long look and you should spot the inconsistency.

    Either way, if it smells like it's burning that means it's rubbing somewhere.
    And rubbing good.

    You just have to find where.
