zoysia grass

    I need a good zoysia grass program .i been taking care of tall fescue lawns and bermudalawns, put 5 5 25 barricde late spring just need a good maint program for the year.the lawn hasn't had any attention in five years.thanks

    If the lawn hasn't had attention for that long, you should do a soil test.

    But just to answer your question, here is a sample program that is used on one of my Zoysia clients. If you deal with Bermuda in Zone 7, the main difference with Zoysia is the lower requirement of N. Other than that, the programs are very similar. Zoysia only needs 3-4 pounds of N per M in a season, whereas Bermuda needs 5 pounds.

    Jan 0-0-8 Barricade
    Mar 0-0-8 Barricade
    Apr 16-25-12 (8% Meth-EX N)
    Jun 25-2-5 (17% MESA N)
    Aug 32-3-12 (11% UF N) w/Barricade
    Oct Simazine

    I know that looks like a lot of Barricade, but we need to split the late Winter and Spring apps here.

    Thanks turfun ,the broad leafs are dying and and starting to green,big lawn to be backpacking weeds at 20,000sgft.but when the zoysia kicks in should do take care of it self this summer.
