12.5 kaw..gas in crank case

I am sure that something is wrong with my carb. Have any of you encountered this problem. I went to crank on it this evening and it started blowing white smoke and spitting and sputtering. I looked on the front castor and it was covered in an oily substance. I then checked my oil and yup...gas mixed with oil

..maybe i can drain it and use it for my weed eaters

..anyway..anyone have experience with this problem?

Throw out your ruined oil and get a new inlet needle/seat and
check your float. If the old float has fuel in it, get a new one.

sounds as simple as a broken diaphragm in your fuel pump.

loosen your fuel pump, crank it over and see if gas squirts from the side that faces the block.

i wouldn't stress.

i've seen floats stick and load up blocks also.

i wouldn't use that oily gas in my 2-stroke equipment either.

I had this happen last year. Above is the 2 threads that deal with it. I always shut the fuel off on all machines now. Its trash that got in the carb and the needle stuck open. This is way the manual says to shut it off.

needle and seat worn out....waiting on the part also had some trash in the bowel as well...drained the mower and tilted it on its side to make sure all gas was out. I should have it back together by friday

Remember to change that oil! It's got all that gas in there and isn't worth a damm now. Hate to see you fix the problem - only to ruin the engine later because of the oil!

So should I simply install new filter and add oil. Then crank, let run for a few minutes and then do another oil change?

If you drained it real good, there is no reason to change it again. Put the new oil and filter on and go for it.

I hate that you had it happen, but I've been trying to get the word out for a while on why you should shut off the fuel. You never know when its gonna happen. Maybe people will realize that it can happen to anybody and will take the 1 second to bend over and turn the knob.

Talk about an easy and cheap preventative measure!

Yes!! I will be doing this from now on. I am still waiting for the parts to come in. They tell me that they will be in on monday and if not Tuesday at the latest. I will just fire it up and be happy. Thanx
