Big Briggs gallons per hr

I just rechecked my 31 hp big block briggs (diahatsu) for fuel usage on my Scag Turf Tiger (yes they put a 31 on some models) I was very careful to fill it up, run it 5 hours and fill it back to the same exact level.
I was surprised it used only 1.3 gallons per hour.

5 hrs @ 6.5 gallons of fuel = 1.3 gallons per hr

I was getting only 1.4 gallons per hr in the Spring but that's still not much more than my 27 Kohler gets and it it "much" more powerful.

This is the second time I've checked it so I feel comfortable with the numbers. I'm sure the 35 would be comparable in my conditions.

For those that may have wanted to know.........

Thats really good on the gal/hour. My tiger cub with the 24 (soon to be 26) briggs gets around 1.8

Both the 23 Kawasaki I used to have, and the 25 I have now use approximately 1.3 gph, so that is really great on the fuel. Is that engine fuel injected? I can't undestand why all engines aren't being switched over to EFI. Really makes sense with the fuel prices nowadays.

No, his engine is not fuel injected and that is extremely good fuel economy on a big blocked Brigg's.

That power to fuel ratio for a gas engine is probably the best in the market.

My 32HP Briggs gets about 1.3 gph. I can go about 4 hours on 5.25 gallons. I think my 31HP Briggs/ Diahatsu gets slightly better, but that also has about 300 hours more on it.

That is great fuel economy, how many hours do you have on the Vanguard's and has there been any problems.

What area of piedmont NC are you in, if you don't mind saying?

One more thing, how do you like your Ferris mowers?

Hey PuppyPaws. I just realized where Marshville NC Is. I used to skirt right on by you on 485 going to Harrisburg. Its pretty country up there for sure

I know you are familiar with this area, I'm only about 30 min. from the race track where they run the 600 lap event.
I have raced at Lowes Motor Speedway. They do the Summer Shootout Series for legends cars on the front straight.

I used to go up there at least 1 friday per month in 2004 when I was the legends dealer for SC to pick up parts. 600 Racing, the creators of legends cars is located on hwy 49 in Harrisburg.

 I'm sure my fuel usage will go up next year if we get a normal rain fall. This year has been a disaster as far as lawns and crops go (severe drought). I have never seen as many lawn care start ups this year. No doubt financing a new ZTR and waiting for the big bucks to roll in, I bet they are sick now. This should weed a few out, no pun intended. We are a small rural community in which 50% of the population are LCO's. Or at least it seems that way some times. They are doing a few tax audits here and the auditor asked if any one in this area cuts their own lawn?

Many years back (around 30yrs.) when I was in the surveying business Mr. Bruton Smith the owner of Lowe's Motor Speedway had me come and survey his new property, stake his big circular drive, stake his tennis courts, swimming pool and the mansion he was building. He had one of the most beautiful (I think Greek) wives you had ever seen and everything was wonderful.

I did $1800.00 dollars worth of work on his personal property, sent him a bill and he has not paid it yet. $1800.00 at that time was a lot of money to me and not even a small bet to him, he knew he was not going to pay that bill. That was like another game to him beating small people out of money, I knew the legal avenues but did not pursue them because of his power. I thought it would cost me more time and money than it was worth, especially when he had his own staff of personal attorneys.

Well, Mr. Smith's wife divorced him and took his bank account to the cleaners for infidelity, couldn't have happened to a more deserving person.

If you ever think you are getting ahead by cheating someone, just hang on I'll promise you God "will" have the last say and I promise you don't want to hear it.

I have heard what you give away while on this earth will get you closer to heaven and what you take will dig your hole deeper in hell.

Yeah bruton smith is a real terd in the punch bowl. Nobody I know likes him.

So, that tells me he is still carrying a reputation for cheating people if a young man as yourself is aware of it. I'll promise if he read these comments he would laugh but he will have a price to pay one day.
I have never to this day met an honest race track promoter. They are all the type to cheat people.

I have about 80 hours on the 3100 and 400+ on the 4000. After owning 3 Ferris mowers, I will never own anything else. The ride on the 4000 is like a Cadillac and the 3100 is getting better all the time. I haven't had any problems with any of the Vanguards. When I first got the 4000 (bought it used) it would randomly stall, but after running a few tanks of gas through it, it was fine, so I think there may have just been junk in the lines from the previous owner.

I live near Statesville, about 40 miles north of Charlotte.

BTW, Lowes Motor Speedway just bought 6 Ferris 3100's. And I've only lived in NC for 6 years and I've already heard of Mr. Smith's reputation. That was pretty low what he did, looks like he got what he deserved though.

I don't see many Ferris mowers but I would love to run one to see how the suspension functions. I think the Vanguard is an excellent engine, the Brigg's name threw people on the ruggedness of the Vanguard, it is in a different class altogether.

Ive never seen that in the bible. Nothing even close. I have seen an eye for an eye but they tell me thats old testament and doesnt count. Im confused.
Never said that was in the bible, an older gentleman told me that a long time ago.
