http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1182004&a=8704801&p=28266510&Sequence=0&res=high NOT BAD FOR 200 HRS walker has to have the worst design deck on the market .yes it can cut great but look at the damage it does when you bust a sheer pin. to many headaches for me .i never heard of breaking a shear pin and totaly ruining your mower deck. this deck wont cut right it wont pick up half the clippings it plugs up every outher strip.the deck cracked on the left side and the blade cut right through the deck on the right side .so i have to weld together my 200 hr old deck.look at it close the whole damn thing is all jacked up . not to mention this mower already had a new motor at 150 hrs due to bad design on dipstick tube. but guess who had to pay the 1400.00 to fix it so lets here it bob walker if your lurking out there whats the deal

Walker makes this design for a pacific purpose and you now figured it out, if you break a shear pin you dont break the gears, shafts ect. We use to run scags and when you hit something the gear box went big $$$$$$ Having over 2000hrs on Walkers I feel i have some knoledge on these mowers and they do have a good design (not perfect but good)What would you rather replace 2blades and 4shear pins for say $25.00 or gear boxes, shafts ect.We carry extra shear pins and check them after 20hrs use.

I dont have a Walker mower. The one thing that turned me away from them is that you have to change decks if you want to side discharge, mulch, or bag. They need to come out with a universal deck.

If you hit something (Hard) with the side of the deck like a (light pole) like i did you will bend the deck in and the blade will hit the deck, break the shear-pin and thats that, other way is hit (Rock) done that too, ounce agian break shear pins EASY-EASY fix rather that then a $800gear box, check your sides (DECK) for blade clearance your blades might be hitting. We had a friend go to the Walker convention for us do to business (not one problem you discussed out of 10,000plus people??

Sound like you have clearance problems, tilt deck up and spin blades see if they are hitting the sides of the deck, also check the weld strip around deck to see if damaged. If everything spins freeley then put new shear pins back in tighten wisely and crank those blades on hard as you can to prevent slippage. First check your deck sounds like your blades are hitting the deck (replace with fresh blades if they hit each-other they might bend) I am truly sorry for the problem you have and I do hope it works out fine for you.

After reviewing your picture We noticed the following/ looking at deck the right lower baffle is bent badly, upper left deck it self was hit hard many times, left lower GHS baffle badly bent. Of all our Walkers we have owned some well over 1000hours our decks NEVER LOOKED THIS BAD. and we do spring and fall clean-ups way up here in Maine and our mowers take a beating. This deck has to have more than 200hrs on it did you buy like this or did you do it. Also noted you have the old style wheels on your deck they have updated the GHS wheels for those.

I have about 450 hrs on my deck and it doesn't look anything like that. I have one bad cut from a piece of granite that got caught between the deck and blade. It looks like you must have alot of rocks where you cut to get that kind of damage. I break lots of the small shear pins but only have damaged one set of blades because of it, I usually get it shut down quick enough. I have also broke two of the roll pins on the shafts when I tipped up the deck. I can't get over the amount of damage to that deck.

i know now why you don't like them... good pionts...but
a walker ghs deck i think was intended to cut turf i muclhed all summer had brought a used deck and refurbished it. and i know i have run though some suff i should'nt have
but mine don't look like that>> man it problally took some heavy duty objects and a lot of them in 200hrs to do all that ....whats your guys hitting? got to be some thing aah,
maybe a finishing type mower is the wrong choice for your application.....and you know the more i look at the photo i think you have two differnt blades on it is one side cutting higher than the other?and check and see if your blades are timed right?

well looking at the picture the one on the right looks as if it is wider and flater than the left one but it does look out of time ,take one of the othere boxes off and retime the blades then look inside the boxes and see how many teeth are sheared off from shock load. how many inch pounds are you tourqeing the shear bolts on the trash plate?

We just bought a pair of 26EFI 48"GHS decks and 9.5 baggers with 52"discharge decks pick up tommorow. I do hope you bought a left and a right blade they do spin opposite if you didnt know. We also contacted our Walker distributor and gave them a photo of your machine, they could not belive the damage and also noted your old style wheels on deck and the older GHS style baffles. 200 normal mowing hours will not do this, mowing in rocks, brush, poor maintenance by not shutting down down after shear-pin break will cause this damage, WE ADVISE YOU TO CONTACT WALKER ON THIS ISSUE!!! and send them your picture!

OK mr landscaper 3 im not a dumb ass ok i have had 7 walker mowers.i think im pretty much aware that they have 2 diff blades on em . as far as two different size in length i think you are smokin crack or somthing.you keep going back to the old style wheels well no kidding the damn mower sat for 14 months with a blown motor and my walker dealer decided to go out of biz in the middle of it allwith the mower all ripped apart.so yes i would say it has the old style wheels i dont see any point in the old style wheels.what are you getting at with tha wheels. all you keep saying is we sent out this we sent our guy to walker plant we ordered walker sheets for my bed all im saying is the design when the sheer pins break and everything sounds like it just exploded under there (even when the blades are shut right off) is stupid and cause un needed damage. and also what does poor maintenance have to do with shutting the blades down.and the rotators lay off the crack its getting to your head

Well I see someone is upset and like I siad in my post CONTACT WALKER THEMSELVES not a dealer, and I meant no harm or disrespect on this issue I was only trying to find a possible solution to your issue!!!!!!! And remarks of smoking crack does not and will not impress me or others due to you posted a badly badly wrecked deck you should know you where going to get some critisizm on your post. And if the deck and mower has 200hrs on it walker will treat you right on a short-block. Yes not shutting down in time will cause alot of damage its like floggy a dead horse you posted we all replied!!

slingshot...chill out you asked the question. Have you had any other problems with any of your other machines. Now I don't know what the wheels have to do with your problem either. We have a 48" deck ending it's 6th season with close to 3000 hrs on it. It has had a few blades into the top of deck or side from careless operators. Replaceing a set of blades and couple little bolts one or two times a is a whole lot better than gear boxes. Ours is still the original one. Good luck. and relax

maybe the photo is deceiving but they measure diff. lengths on my monitor- real life guess looks like they'd be about 3-5" diff. Maybe it comes that way as an offset to funnel in clippings from the factory; photo looks that way-just my 2 cents.
