Why blow $5k on this machine when you can buy a JRCO spreader and a 36" Wright Stander for bout the same price....

Its like buying a permagreen and getting a free mower with it.

Plus the WStander goes over 5mph.

Just seems like an incrdedible waste of money to me.

Might have a point there.... :)

While on this subject area though, have you seen Lesco's Z-Two Spreader Sprayer? Nice but $7,500

Are the Jrco Spreader and Wright Stander stainless steel? IF not then as a spreader they are a waste. Second, I doubt that pulling a sprayer and spreading with a wright stander iis as fast as the Permagreen. I can spray and spread an acre residential lawn with my Permagreen in 15-20 minutes.

There is no compariso. If you even THINK you are going to get an accurate spread that is calibrated (with the 3 hole design) like the PG, then you are sadly mistaken. Besiodes, you can't really accurately spread anything over 5 mph , anyway.
Now, as far as the spraying goes,...Hyeah, right! This thing does NOT spray like a PG, the booms bounce all over, you can't see (unless you're looking BEHIND you where your spray edges are, and you CERTAINLY don't have the manueverability.
You are talking about two whole seperate creatures, here.

I agree with Joe. We have the new Magnum and there is no comparison! If you are serious about fert apps. then you need a PG or Zspray. No ifs, ands or buts. calibration is huge! and the add-on spreaders are not speed sensitive like the PG, so you will get uneven spread patterns and app. rates on an add-on.

have u run a pg?
i tried all the add on spreaders they were slow
my pg's r fast and turn well and keep me on target all day long
i save fert by not over applying or going to slow
not to mention the professional look it gives my biz customers like nice equipment not some sanford and son junk bucket

I owned a Jrco for 4 years before buying a PG. There was a few reasons.

1st I got sick of converting the mower from a mower....to a bagger....to a fert spreader.

Say I got back at 3pm on a friday..If I had to switch all the brackets from the vac to the spreader, then go out to fert, it just took too long.

2nd The manuverability. Plain and simple it sucks with a mower. Cant get into 36" gates either.

3rd The electric control sucked. You would get a burst when you first opened the hopper, then it would slow to the correct speed. Each time you adjusted the flow you would have to adjust the speed of the spinner.

Now with the PG I can get home at 3pm and be back out by 3:15 doing fert. The spray pattern is great. I no longer need my push spreader. And the spread pattern is great as well.

Digging the Lesco HPS I can buy 2 for the price a Perma Green and knock out the dry app fast, accurate and profitable. If the property needs blanket spraying I can pull the hose. If its spot here and there, mount a handcan on the fender and dose it as you go by.

I believe the PG's biggest benefit, is that you don't NEED a truck mounted skid sprayer and hose.

If all your doing with it is dry apps, this isn't the machine for you.

Plus, homeowners see you spreading GRANULAR. There is still a LOT of people who don't like to see the HOSE and LIQUID apps.

that may be true but it is still not going to hold up like a pg in my mind i looked at it and have ridden it my pg turns better and is eaiser to hop curbs
and i can still spray with it
the pg can make u get more done in a day :)

We are also big fans of the lesco hps machines, and we do have 2 gal. sprayers mounted on each machine. we also have lesco skid sprayers, demco pto sprayers, electric boom sprayers, backpacks, etc. we have lesco push spreaders, hps spreaders and a sitrex pto spreader for the (new) kubota. We don't have a pg and we never will. The bottom line her'e is quality results in a fast manner,if it works for you thats great! IMHO, mower mounted spreaders is not the way to go! For those of you who want to spread fert @ 5-10 mph LOL. Correct me her'e if im wrong, the engineers design mowers to cut grass, not fertilize, aerate, spray, etc.

Perma Greens are good machine with a few extra benefits. They are also high maintenance and I see them in the shop quite frequently. Majority of the properties I treat are weed free, maybe some spot spraying. I can put 2 guys out knocking out 10 acres of commercial turf a day each for the cost of one PG. As far as turning radius...I'll take the hydraulic ease of control to back up go forward over the stop & shift of the transmission. Curbs...thats why they make curb cuts and driveways...:blob3:

You guys all seem to be multi employee operations who already have spray rigs and other equipment for liquid apps.

However, for the solo operator looking for a way to incorporate several different custom apps for his customers, I really don't see any other method worth it for a similar investment.

My lawns I currently have treated by another LCO range from 3/4 to 3 acres.

Dragging hose for those bigger and intricate properties is a royal PITA and he uses a helper.

:pumpkin: I have used the PG for 2 seasons now and it does have a lot of benefits. Mainly the wear and tear on the operator. It really doesn't save me time or money up front, but helps with the quality and amount of work later in the season.:pumpkin:

i have a two used centri's f/s
