Does anyone on here do only weedeating? I was thinking of an ad in the paper for weedeating and see if there were any calls. This might get some one time jobs or maybe more. Any thoughts on this?

Just last week I was cutting one of my regulars and the neighbor asked for a price to "only" cut his ditch and trim around his trees and home. He said he has knee problems, but can still use his tractor. I told him $20.00 thinking we are right there anyway. I think he thought it was a little high because he said he would let me know. That's ok by me, the trimming is the tough part. I figured it would take about 15 minutes to do.

I guess for me I would rather not bother just trimming for people.

I don't do it. If someone asks for trimming only (which has only happened once) I quote them the price of what it would be for mow/trim/blow. I guess if it was a neighbor of one of my accounts then I would consider doing it once at a decent price, but would not do it on a regular basis.

Im an omnivore, I enjoy meat eating also. Therefore I prefer to do work that allows me to be able to afford meat.
When I read that I started laughing so hard I couldnÂ’t type, I think I am the only person that got that. It kills me when I see or hear people say they weed wacked or weed eated a lawn but they have different equipment like red max. I use red max trimmers. I wounder if people would understand me if I talked about red maxing a lawn? I also have to ask, if there is grass mixed in with the weeds do they cut that down as well or is there trimmer selective and only cuts weeds?

Incase you new people donÂ’t understand the above statement, weed eaters and weed wackers are a name brand not something you do in someoneÂ’s lawn. When you work it is called trimming.

But to answer the question, No you will not make money trimming alone.

Or Ill use the Bobcat to grade that dirt out. How about the skid loader or skid steer.

Sounds like you may have found a "niche" market cause everyone else on Plowsite is too awesome to weedwack. OH, SORRY, I mean trim.

I have one that that is all I do for them every two weeks. It is next door to two accounts that I service weekly. Mow the grass along a creek bank, trim and edge the beds, sidewalk and drive and blow off the drive and sidewalk. Takes all of 20 minutes, $35 and I was already there anyway. Other two jobs are $30 and $25. All told, I'm at this stop MAYBE an hour. $90. Yeah, it's a sweet little stop for me.

That being said, I don't go out advertising for this. This lady approached me about it after she saw how I trimmed and edged her neighbor's yard. I tried to sell her on just letting me have the whole kit and kaboodle but she said her husband enjoyed mowing but hates to trim and WON'T edge. These three yards are MAYBE 9k sq ft lots WITH the house on them...might be 7k sq ft of turf total. Like was said earlier, if it is somewhere where I'm already stopped and it makes sense, I'll do it, but I'm not advertising for it.

I have one "trim, edge, blow" only customer. She lives across the street from other customers, and I will only do the task "when I'm there." She mows with a tractor, and does a very good job for a residential homeowner -- better job than many LCOs with commercial equipment. I just walk across the street and do the job when I'm working the other properties. At times when I've done it as a stand-alone, it takes 20 minutes, and I get $20. I would not do it if the mowing work was terrible -- don't want my work associated with other sloppy work.

No, I would never attempt to make a market out of this kind of effort. There is too little revenue from each visit to make the trip worthwhile.

BTW, I never "weedeat," nor do I own a "weedeater." The places that I trim are turf, not weeds. If the place is weeds, then I don't want to mow it either.

I don't have a weed-eater, my bottom line tool that would most closely resemble one
is a string trimmer and then I also have an edger and a brush cutter.

On that note, brush cutting yes, you can definitely get some bucks and work
doing that but it's usually dirty hard work that likes to draw some blood, too.
But if you can clear brush you got it made.
