I went to John Deere Landscape the other day to see if they had something cheaper to spray for grubs, ticks, fleas, etc.. I had been spraying Sevin XLR and got good results with it, but the cost per 1000 sq.ft. was high. He said that Crosscheck got the fleas, ticks, flies, mosquitoes better and cheaper. I seen that grubs was not listed but he said it would get them also. I have sprayed a few lawns already but for some people, the grubs is the most important insect they want sprayed for. Am I messing up, thinking that it will kill grubs.

not labeled. I have heard that talstar (same as crosscheck) will kill active grubs. But it's not on the label so legally you can't use it to target the grubs.

Also im not sure of the timing down in NC but up here grub aplications in spring-early summer is targetted to get the new lavea that starts eating the roots in late summer early fall

They're not fond of Orthene & it's cheap. After a good app, your customers will know you've been there :)

http://www.gvwest.com/labels/ORTHENE277.pdf (you can find the labels for the other stuff here as well)

Talstar works well, try the granular "nursery", challenging to spread but has a longer residual.

Imidacloprid also works well.

Remember, there are scores of target pests on any property that will permit you to legally use these products. If they also kill grubs, well that's just collateral damage.

wouldnt the wise question to then ask be "why is this product NOT labeled for grub control?" I am absolutely certain the powers that be know this product works on Grubs. Why do they not want it to be used this way?

It certainly would work if I shave with a butchers knife but I doubt most of us see that as wise...

I'll bet it's all the additional paperwork they'll need to fill out and the original intent for developing the product was for it's labeled use, like Talstar and ants...

But contrary to the State of Michigan report, I've had good sucess with Talstar granular as an early treatment for ah, oh yes... ants. Add about 1/2 - 3/4 inch water after application to get it into the root zone (at least in zone 9.5)
