Let me first say, go try one!!!

Ok, this sports a 26hp diesel liquid cooled engine, 6.5inch deep deck, shaft drive transmission, shaft drive deck, hydro deck lift, dual tanks that hold a total of 13 gallons, and a suspension seat. I have a light kit and striping roller kit options added to mine.

How is the cut? The cut is cleaner or as clean as gravely, toro, exmark, jd, and dixy chopper. Being that the deck is 6.5 inch deeps is pulls a lot of air. As your mowing you can see the grass being pulled toward the the deck. Also us handles deep thick grass very well. You will never slow down thick grass at normal height. Before I got the striping kit it still striped better than gravely and toro, now it looks even more incredible with it on. I have never seen a mower handle wet grass so well. Nothing really clings on to the deck, I have been amazed at that. When its wet is leave very small clumps, but no big wads. The incredible thing about his mower is that the blades don't dull very fast. I went 60 hours before I sharpened them for the first time. Even that was just a shine up. They were not bad at all.

Performance: Kubota builds everything on the mower so everything fits together perfectly. The hydros are the right size for the machine, the engine is the perfect size, and so on. This 26hp diesel is a power house. I uses a little under 1 gallon a hour. I have never been able to stall the engine in thick over grown grass. The deck belt does not slip. It's a single belt with a 2 v's on it. All the bearings, u joins, deck spindles are greasable. The engine hood is designed to keep about 95% of all debris out of the radiator then there is a screen in front of the radiator. I have not got the engine even close to hot. Even in a 90 degree day cutting super long grass did not even do it. Another thing I like is that just like a car, the trans cooler is on the radiator. Is has a massive hyrdo line in front of the radiator for cooling, there is also a fan on the hydro pump. The air cleaner is under the hood and the hood screen keeps all the debris out of the air cleaner also. The motor has a wet clutch right off the motor instead of a electric clutch that wears out. The hydros are also super smooth also. the nice thing is that there is no back pull, so you can operate with one hand, or no hands.

Hills: This was something I was a little concerned about when I went to a mid mount versus a front deck. The thing is 1700 lbs dry, so I did not know what was going to happen. Well, most of the weight is on the massive rear tires. The rear tires are 57inches wide so the stance is super wide. The machine is pretty tall, so it is a pain on hills, but the weight on the mower sits low. I was doing a hill last week and I got gutsy. The front of the mower does not run down hill like most mid mounts as long as your pointed straight sideways. I was right at tipping point and what happened what the turf under me gave out and the whole mower started to slide down hills sideways. In other words the rear tires started to slide down hill. It does really well on hills, the only thing better would be a ventrack. The hydros don't struggle no matter what the hill.

The only issue I have had: The striping kit is a roller and one bolt screwing into the roller want to unscrew, so I had to lock tight it. That is the only real thing.

Warranty: It comes with a 2 year warranty standard with unlimited hours. You can also buy an additional 2 years with no hour limit like I am going to do.

MSRP is $14,600. I bought mine with the 2 options for $12,860. $13,500 is more normal though.

Any questions give me a shout. I have 83 hours on the machine and have had it for about a month. I have not had time to proof read, so sorry for any typos.

Good reveiw.

What size deck does yours have? Also, where abouts in MI did you buy it? There aren't that many dealers close to me, but I did drive 55 miles to look at some before I bought my Deere. The Kubota's are nice machines, and I wish Deere had more than one diesel machine (997). Most of us just don't need that big of an engine to do our lawns. One like yours is the one that I am really interested in most in the Kubota line-up.

You got your self one hell of a machine. I have the zg222 and its served me well. I had an old zd21 I did not like.
Kubota has made some drastic changes to the str since my zd21. I am in the market to add a bigger str I'm down to
The zd326 or SCAG cheetah or turf tiger I have not decided yet.

Well, once I saw the way it was built, I was like this is a class of its own. Oil change every 200 hours, maintenance schedule goes to every 2500 hours. So they expect you to have the machine till at least 3000 hrs

Glad you posted this review. I am very interested in this model, glad to hear it is serving you well. Keep us updated. Tuffram, have you decided on your next mower yet?

It's too much to handle! I hear good things about the TT, then hear good things about the zd326. I'm not really ready yet to purchase but maybe this fall or early next spring. I'll have to demo both and see which I like better I guess. Keep me updated on your purchase and enjoy your vacation.

The kubota kings! in coldwater. You must live in the middle of nowhere. I live in the center of 3. there all about 30 min from me. Mine is a 60, thats the only size for a 326. The zd 221 has a 48inch or 54inch and both are diesel. Even the kubota gas engine blow everything out of the water. I may get a 331 next year with a 72inch deck. I forgot 2 things to put in. The jack system in amazing, and the anti scalp wheels are awesome. The scalp wheels are on casters and have 5 adjustments. I keep them about 3/4 inch from the ground, never scalp no matter what.

basically what i have said from when they first came out. good review and honest, though i have been able to really clog the deck up, it does still do a pretty darn good job at it. i use low lift blades in all but the height of summer, then use factory high lifts. gators in fall for leaves are very nice

ok, here is what sold me. If you buy a scag, what are you getting thats scag? That frame and deck. You will end up with a BS(thats what I truly think of B/S engines), kawi, or kholer engine. A parker, eaton, or some other kind of pump. What wrong with that? Well, they are not made for that mower, and it won't fit perfect. With the kubota everything is made by kubota for that mower. All the filters, drive shafts grease fittings, and placements of parts are easy to get to and work on. Thats why I can't stand jd. I looked at a 997 and I thought to myself, there is no way I could put up working on it.

were you using low lifts when it clogged? ;)

Something to think about that my dealer told me. The P models have a problem with the no flat tires. I found this out when I ran a zg332. They get a flat spot in the tires when they sit and it takes a long time before it comes out. I took off down the asphalt and the mower bounced really bad. So if you get a zd331, zg332, or a 326 P you want to order the pneumatic front tires they do 10.5 mph. I have the 326S, it does 9.5 mph, and it does not feel slow.

I know kubotas are good. I have a zg 23 I'm running now. We have also had many kubota tractors from 34 HP up to 90 HP, and a front deck mower, they are all great machines. I just need something that is going to cut thick wet grass down nicely on one pass without clumping, that's why I considered Scag.

I know without a doubt it will cut it in one pass, but you will have to try both as far clipping dispersion. maybe a mulching mower kit ;)?

We are both considering Scag for the same reasons. I have had a little trouble with clumping in wet grass with my zg but it still leaves a good cut in it. I do not think any mower will not clump a little in very wet thick grass but I am open for opinions. I love the idea of the MOD deck on the JD just not happy with the price of the machine compared to others. If I could get a JD MOD in the 9 to 10K-price range I would consider one but my dealer and the others close by all think they are made out of gold or something.

I was thinking of suggesting that, but I can't stand jd mowers. The 300 series may do better because the deck is 1.5 inches deeper, don't know.

Have you ever had any trouble yet with the front gauge wheels caster forks?

When my wife and I drove out to the Kubota dealer, we were looking at the ZD326, and ZD331's mainly, but a few of the gas models too, and all of them that had the swiveling front caster forks had at least one fork that was really bent to one side. They were bent right where the fork splits to go around each side of the wheel. The dealers ground had lots of mole tunnels on the surface where they were demo'ing them, and he hadn't noticed that they were all bent until I pointed to them and asked what happened. He said he had no idea, so I figured maybe he had a received a shipment of machines that came with a bad batch of caster forks. We both thought it was really weird, since they do swivel and should avoid any such damage very well.
He said he was gonne be talking with Kubota about it, but I haven't had a chance to go back to talk anymore with him.

He also sold Snapper ZTR's and some of them a darn nice machines too.

No I have not, not saying it could not happen, but not from a mole hole. The way it normally happens is hitting something with your wheel as you turn. I have hit stuff hard, with the wheels and have not had that problem.
