It's always been cheaper to order parts aftermarket but if you get it wrong you're stuck with it,
by the time you pay return shipping, it's not like returning items to a store...

In summary lets just say win some, lose some.
LOL, yeah but I can lose more than once for what you pay at the dealer. And if you do you're research on belts you should know exactly what size and length you need.

I purchased the exact belts sold by some of forum sponsors. #265482 list for 15.53,bought it for a hair over 7.00,#7035710 list for 61.90,bought for 15.35. It'll be interesting to see if Chin Chan was the quality inspector:laugh:

let us know what you think, curious as belts are a bit too much money these days. seriously, i mean we have some with belts that are around 100 bucks or more to replace.

Grassman177...........Received my belt order today and the belt brand name is PIX made in INDIA,yes I know what you're thinking:rolleyes: but their not made in China and the construction and quality far exceeded my expectations for cheap belts. The cost savings out weight the India logo:) over buying over-priced belts. But the deck belt on today and racked up about four hours on the belt and it held together without shredding up,so I'm sold and will be placing another order to double stock up for next year, just in case one does tear up.

Yup, now I got a little secret for you, won't be long before those belts go up in price, now that everybody starts to order them from there.
Won't be long at all before your fabled 1/2 price belts cost just as much as you're used to paying,
guess you better order them on up, which that will help drive them up some more.

Have fun.

Nothing wrong with made in India. Where do you guys think rubber trees grow? Hint: nowhere in the USA.

The average life of Pix belts on my Dixie were 100 hours. The average life of Gates Hi-Power II belts on the same exact mower are over 1200. Do not run Pix belts backwards around a idler pulley. I think it's called back loading.

I can get Gates Hi-Power II belts from Royal Supply (http://www.royalsupply.com/store/pc/Gates-V-Belts-c1028.htm) for almost the same price as Pix belts.

Richard.....Thanks for stopping by to state your experience using the PIX belts as I've never heard of this brand and hopefully this ONLY one will remain intact till the end of the season and thanks for that links.

Nice to know Richard. The belts for the Scags from dealers are very expensive.

Richard,
Do you have a link for the B85 belt? Dixie # is 9907B5 which some sites say has been changed to 2006B85W.

I found this: Gates B85 Hi-Power II V-Belt 90032085

but the specs say "The Flex-Weave® Cover is a patented fabric construction for longer cover life, providing extended protection to the belt core from oil, dirt and heat."

which means it isn't a RAW edge belt. I thought DC's required RAW edge belts?

I've used both types but the covered belt seems to work better and lasts a whole lot longer.

What I've found is even more critical than the construction of the belt is the adjustment of the belt. On my Dixie, the engine to T gear box belt is the critical adjustment. If that is off by just a little then the deck belt will keep spinning even after the lever has been turned to the off position. I've seen dealers struggle with this problem. If the deck belt is spinning when the engine is shut off, it can grab the belt just as the engine stops turning, and put a slice in the belt. Of course you don't notice the slice until chunks of the belt come flying off.
